Thanks to all of you who came to our AGM with Sir Geoffrey Cox KC, our MP in Halwill on Saturday 21st of June. A quick summary is below. But first can we remind you to get your tickets for the garden party being sponsored by Sir Geoffrey Cox our hard-working MP, taking place near Tavistock on the 19th of July? Really important to get your tickets now, they are limited and selling quickly and this event only happens once every couple of years, if that!
if you would like to come please email fundraising@Torridgeandtavistock conservatives.org.uk
Congratulations to the following:
Chair - Peter Crozier
Deputy Chair Political - Neil Jory
Deputy Chair Membership & Fundraising - Debbie Flint (who returns to the role for her fifth year of five)
Secretary & YC Chair - Evan Williams
President - Philip Sanders
Treasurer - Diana Stevens
And welcome to the team Sherri Green, a relative newcomer, who has offered her services as safeguarding officer and helping with campaigning in Torrington.
We are still in need of a CPF (Policy Forum Coordinator), and a Volunteer Coordinator. Anyone interested please let us know.
Heartfelt thanks go to Ellie Price who stepped down as treasurer after several years of putting up with us! Her excellent accounting practices second to none. To Ken Hind who did a sterling job pounding the pavements and spearheading campaigning plans, as DCP. And to Caroline Mott who helped over the last nearly a year with events et cetera as DCM and F.
And a special thanks to Marion Perkin who has, as Sir Geoffrey said, done nearly every role possible in the area over the years, and stepped down as President after many years of keeping the peace.
We welcome five new honorary Vice Presidents, in recognition of their roles, e.g. as former Councillors for several years, or their many years of service for the Association:
David Hurley (second year)
Susan Collins
Ken Hind
Jeff Wilton-Love
Jane Whittaker
Again, special recognition goes to Simon Newton who has moved out of the area, for his many years as councillor and leader of the Conservatives on Torridge Council. Jane Whittaker takes over the role.
The next big event in our campaigning calendar will be the unitary elections and possibly a mayor of Devon in the next 2 to 3 years.
We need all hands on deck to build up our campaigning team so please let us know if you are interested.
And a final congratulations once again to Debo Sellis who has just finished such a grand job as mayor of Tavistock, and was re-elected as county councillor for Tavistock and Gulworthy; plus to Dermot McGeough for Northam.
The team, including some of our Councillors, old and new:

The venue as ever was excellent and we had some lovely food courtesy of the Junction Inn team, in the pub nearby. Special thanks to Angela Blackman for your help in covering off the lunch arrangements as well. And of course Susan Collins for your excellent raffle as ever.
We’d also like to thank Ali Nix our admin lady for being incredible. We couldn’t have done it without you.
A word from Peter your new Chair will be below, please come back to find out more. Meanwhile here is a selection of photos from the day and thank you to everybody who came. We had a really good turnout considering everything that’s going on at the moment. What a passionate group we have at Torridge and Tavistock! Onwards and upwards!
Anyone wanting to get in touch please just email fundraising@Torridgeandtavistock conservatives.org.uk
Best wishes to all,
Debbie, Peter and Team
